Silicone Replacement FAQs

Yes. A proper reseal starts with removing failed silicone before applying new silicone for a clean, watertight result.

Replacing failed silicone can stop water tracking through junctions and corners. If there’s also grout breakdown, we may recommend regrouting to fully restore the sealing system.

Maxisil silicone is our preferred repair product.

Ventilation plays a role, but silicone also deteriorates over time. In high-moisture, low-ventilation environments, silicone is more susceptible to mould and breakdown.
